Tax credit for home renovation – 2009
On January 14, 2009, the Québec government announced the implementation, for 2009, of a refundable tax credit for renovation and home improvement.
On January 27, the government of Canada also introduced a non refundable home renovation tax credit.
The two home renovation tax credits are temporary measures created to help homeowners improve their dwelling while stimulating the economy.
Try out the calculator and see how much you could be entitled to depending on your family situation, family income and the cost of your renovation work.
For example, for kitchen renovation work done in May 2009 for a total of $15 000, a couple with children and family income of $75 000 would receive tax assistance of $2 627.25, as shown below:
- $1 500 from the Québec tax credit;
- $1 127.25 from the Canada tax credit.
Caution
The calculator can be used to estimate the assistance you may be entitled to, based on certain assumptions designed to reflect the most common situations. The exact amounts will be determined by the responsible departments and organizations on the basis of the specific characteristics of each measure and depending on the specific situation of each household. |
