Early childhood centres

An additional $50-million investment in early childhood centres
In 1997, the government put forward a family policy largely given over to educational childcare for which a reduced contribution is payable. This measure is intended to make it easier for parents to combine work and family responsibilities, and to promote equal opportunity for children. Since then, 60 000 new places and 12 000 jobs have been created.
Under the public-sector investment acceleration plan, a budget of $50 million has been earmarked for the construction of early childhood centres.
