$500 million invested to improve public services
The projects to be implemented in the health and social services sector will account for a major portion of the public-sector investment acceleration plan. A total of $500 million will be invested to improve public services. The breakdown will be as follows:
- a major portion of the $500 million will be earmarked for the construction and renovation of residential and long-term care centres, and for the expansion and renovation of hospitals, particularly for emergency rooms;
- additional budgets will be earmarked to ensure maintenance, standardization, modernization and improvement of safety in the health and social services network. A project to improve the safety, architecture and electrical system of the Centre hospitalier des Vallées de lOutaouais will be carried out;
- certain
buildings in the network will be modernized so that they can
house additional equipment, such as digital radiology equipment.
Information processing and interchange systems will be modernized
to improve diagnoses, the treatment given to patients and the
effectiveness of the health system generally, particularly to
facilitate the setting up of family medicine groups. Furthermore,
this plan will allow the automation of the clientele systems
in the youth centres of Québec to be completed.
