Development
of the biotechnology sector

- Introduction
of the Bio-Levier capitalization
loan program for growing companies that have progressed
beyond the start-up phase. An envelope of $100 million is
allocated for biotechnology companies, as of 2002-2003,
to support their development and marketing activities.
- Creation
of two new biotechnology development centres in Sherbrooke
and Saint-Hyacinthe. These centres will receive the same
tax benefits as the Centre de développement des biotechnologies
de Laval, which is currently under construction. The government
will invest $9.5 million over the next three fiscal years
in tax measures to benefit companies that set up business
in these centres.
